Dashoguz (Dashkhovuz, Tashauz) is a city in the north of Turkmenistan.
On the territory of Dashoguz velayat is located the capital of ancient Khorezm - one of the most powerful medieval empires in Central Asia - the city of Keneurgench (Kunya-Urgench). From 995, when Gurganj was the capital of the state of Khorezmshahs and was the second largest and most important after Bukhara - the diamond crown of the Samanid dynasty, this city has preserved magnificent architectural monuments - Il Arslan and Khorezmshah Tekesh dating back to our days, dating back to the XII century. Particularly significant monuments of Keneurgench belonging to the XIV century are the Tyurabek-Khanym mausoleum with a mosaic panel on the inside of the dome, which represents a masterpiece of oriental art, which has no analogues in all medieval architecture, as well as the magnificent 60-meter Kutlug-Timur minaret, the highest in Central Asia. Also here are the majestic ancient fortress cities of Devckesin, Shasenem, Zmukshir, Kenevas and many others.
The famous Keneurgench monument - Izmukshir - is the ancient city of Zamakshar, the birthplace of the great 10th century philosopher Az-Zamakshari. On its territory, one of the largest and most picturesque fortress ruins of the empire of Khorezmshahs has been preserved.
Nizhimietdin Kubra Mausoleum (XII-XIII cc.). Nadzhimetdin Kubra is the founder of the dervish order "Kubraviya" in Islam, a Sufi sheikh - the main monument in the memorial complex "360". This place is considered sacred. Pilgrims from all over the world flock here.
