Sevastopol

The city of Sevastopol is located on the Heraclea Peninsula, namely in the South-Western part of Crimea. Most of its territory is occupied by the black sea coast, and the city itself is surrounded by 23 bays. Each of them has its own name, which serves as a guide for tourists in search of certain attractions.

The entire memorial Park occupies about 8 hectares of land, of which 5 thousand square kilometers are underground facilities: bunkers, tunnels and hidden manholes. On the territory of the complex there is a Pantheon of memory, a memorial arch, a small Orthodox chapel, as well as an open Museum area. Besides, it was succeeded to keep the casemated rooms in that look in which they reached contemporaries from the period of the great Patriotic war, and also to protect from full destruction armored installations.

The first thing visitors see are pictures of those bloody battles for the independence of Sevastopol. The panorama is displayed on the walls of the Pantheon thanks to modern light-visual technology, which allows people to move to the scene, feeling the tension and tragedy of the atmosphere. And suddenly from somewhere in the sky begin to appear images of Soviet soldiers who became heroes of those distant battles, like lights illuminating the darkness.

No one is forgotten, nothing is forgotten...

On the territory of the Museum complex above the mass grave there is a large white monument, in which a red star is carved. This stone obelisk is placed on a large concrete slab, on which are fixed plates with all the names of soldiers who were part of the 35th coastal battery and gave their lives in the period from 1941 to 1942. The monument is always buried in flowers. Local residents and guests of Sevastopol come here in the days of grief, who honor the valor and merit of Soviet soldiers who died in their native land in the name of the fight against fascism.
