The city of Sevastopol is located on the Heraclea Peninsula, namely in the South-Western part of Crimea. Most of its territory is occupied by the black sea coast, and the city itself is surrounded by 23 bays. Each of them has its own name, which serves as a guide for tourists in search of certain attractions.
General information
The climate here goes from temperate continental to subtropical: in summer there is a pleasant warmth, not suffocating heat. The best season to relax on the beach - from June to mid-September.
Due to its convenient location Sevastopol is associated primarily with a beach holiday. Among the abundance of beaches are the most popular: neighbors "Omega" and "Victory Park". "Omega" is a sandy beach on the West Bank of the Bay of the same name, and "Victory Park" is pebble beach between the bays of Omega and Streletskaya.
Attractions
In addition to the beaches of Sevastopol region is rich in interesting places.
- Malakhov Kurgan. The legendary height, which became famous twice: during the Crimean war in the 19th century and the great Patriotic war. At the top of the mound stands a defensive tower, which now houses a branch of the historical Museum dedicated to the role of Sevastopol in the defense of the country.
- Chersonese. Another historical place, however, referring to a more ancient era. Here the ruins of the ancient city, where Prince Vladimir once converted to Christianity, have survived to our times. In our years, this territory is "Tauric Chersonesos" - Museum-reserve.
- Marine aquarium Museum. A unique Museum where you can admire the bizarre marine life, but it is not necessary to plunge into the depths of the sea. The inhabitants of the Amazon, the red sea, African lakes and the Black sea gathered in four halls.

Museum complex heroic "35th coastal battery"
The Valor and courage of Soviet soldiers will forever remain in the memory of their ancestors, including through the installation of memorials in different cities of Russia. Not an exception and the heroic city of Sevastopol, in which a monument was erected on the initiative of local residents, which is dedicated to the soldiers of the "35th coastal battery".
The entire memorial Park occupies about 8 hectares of land, of which 5 thousand square kilometers are underground facilities: bunkers, tunnels and hidden manholes. On the territory of the complex there is a Pantheon of memory, a memorial arch, a small Orthodox chapel, as well as an open Museum area. Besides, it was succeeded to keep the casemated rooms in that look in which they reached contemporaries from the period of the great Patriotic war, and also to protect from full destruction armored installations.
The Pantheon of memory
One of the most important objects on the territory of the Museum complex is the Pantheon of memory, which forever immortalized the names of the heroes of the second world war, who sacrificed everything to clean up their hometown from the Nazi scourge. In this memorial, everyone takes their breath away and their eyes are filled with tears.
The first thing visitors see are pictures of those bloody battles for the independence of Sevastopol. The panorama is displayed on the walls of the Pantheon thanks to modern light-visual technology, which allows people to move to the scene, feeling the tension and tragedy of the atmosphere. And suddenly from somewhere in the sky begin to appear images of Soviet soldiers who became heroes of those distant battles, like lights illuminating the darkness.
No one is forgotten, nothing is forgotten...
On the territory of the Museum complex above the mass grave there is a large white monument, in which a red star is carved. This stone obelisk is placed on a large concrete slab, on which are fixed plates with all the names of soldiers who were part of the 35th coastal battery and gave their lives in the period from 1941 to 1942. The monument is always buried in flowers. Local residents and guests of Sevastopol come here in the days of grief, who honor the valor and merit of Soviet soldiers who died in their native land in the name of the fight against fascism.
