There are colorful peasant houses of the XIX century, the Island of Fairy Tales with characters carved from wood, as well as the vodka museum, which has more than 3,000 exhibits. Prior to World War II Mandrogi was a Karellian fishing settlement hardly touched by time. The war left it a burnt ruin, but a group of investors invited the best woodworkers to restore the town to its former glory.

    Day 6 Kizhi

Arrival on the wonderful island named Kizhi in the Northern part of Onega lake. This is a pearl of Karelia region. The main attraction is the Museum of Wooden Architecture and its heart - the Kizhi Pogost ensemble with the world-known masterpiece of Russian wooden architecture - the 22-chapter Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord. During a guided tour on the island, you'll visit a traditional farmer's house, learn a lot about Karelian crafts and traditions; will listen to church bells ringing and will see one of central Orthodox relics of the Russian North – Church of the Resurrection of Lazarus.

    Day 7

Arrival to Goritsy, a picturesque river town, located on the banks of a Volga tributary with a little river port, making it worth exploring its medieval atmosphere to dive into this small charming community's simplicity. This small town has an incredible church worth exploring. The Church of the Transfiguration is only part of the Monastery of St. Cyril on White Lake, which occupies a large area by it and is surrounded by high walls.

    Day 8

Uglich is a quiet, authentic, and homelike town, one of the oldest towns in Russia. Many significant historical events left their imprint on the town. You'll be surprised by how many sights such a small town can house! In Times of Troubles, in 1591 the younger son of Ivan the Terrible, Prince Dmitry, was murdered here at the age of 10. Later, by the order of the Romanov Tsars, Uglich was turned into a place of pilgrimage, and, to commemorate young Prince Dmitry's victim, the Church of St. Dmitry-on-Blood was built in 1690. Such a sad story standing in contrast with the colorful exteriors of this red ensemble, indeed, makes the church a unique landmark. Plus, the complex is situated on the scenic banks of the Volga River providing stunning panoramas! Moreover, the town is home to one of the oldest religious establishments in Russia, the 17th-century Alekseevsky Monastery, along with the beautiful golden-domed Resurrection Monastery, that is defined to be on your Uglich itinerary as well. Despite such popularity, Uglich manages to remain a lovely and peaceful place.

    Day 9

The "frozen antiquity of Russia", the former county center of fair trade – colorful and original town of Myshkin attracts crowds of tourists every year. Today Myshkin is a museum city of the Russian province, which has preserved the ancient merchant buildings and a measured way of life. Here is the estate of the millionaire merchant T.V. Chistov with a two-story mansion, the museum of Russian felt boots, an old mill and, of course, the Assumption Cathedral.
