| Day 1 | Ust-Orda | In the morning meeting at the airport. Departure to Khuzir, the main village of island Olkhon and the 6 hours journey. Drive north 250 km./155 ml. along the Promorsky Mountains on Baikal's western shore to the Olkhon Island ferry. En route – stopper In Ust-Orda settlement, centre of Buryat culture located 62 km away from Irkutsk. You will visit the Local Lore Museum and learn about the history of different ethnic groups that inhabited the region since the Paleolithic Era. You will learn a lot about the customs, traditions and beliefs of the Western Buryats. The highlight of the trip will be participation in ancient purification ritual with a real shaman. Lunch in a local cafe (Buryat cuisine). Make the crossing (by ice in winter, by ferry-boat in summer) to Olkhon Island. Accommodation in a hotel in Khuzir. Excursion to the museum of Local Lore. A walking excursion through the village down to the 4km sandy ice beach and the Cape of Burkhan to see the sunset at the famous Crag of Shaman (Rock Temple). Dinner. |
| Day 2 | Khoboy | Breakfast. At 10:00 depart by Russian military jeeps (on ice in winter) to explore Olkhon Island and classic Lake Baikal vistas. Heading north and make stops at Sagaan-Khushun Cape, coastal icy caves, frozen blue hummocks and stretches of beach along the way, including the 200m./650'-high frozen cliffs of Khoboy Cape at the northern tip of the island. Picnic-lunch made on fire (lunch box in winter) is at Khoboi cape. In summer visit also Shunte cape and Uzur bay. Return to Khuzir in the afternoon. Dinner. |
| Day 3 | Olkhon Island | After breakfast, board the bus at 10:00 and drive to the ferry-station. Cross the strait by ice (ferry-boat in summer) to the mainland and drive to Irkutsk. Stop for lunch en route in the buryat village. Arrival in Irkutsk. End of program. |
