Cathedral square – the main place of the city of Vladimir. It got its name thanks to the assumption and Dmitrievsky cathedrals located on it. During its history, it only once changed its name, since the Bolsheviks came to power in 1917 and until the collapse of the Soviet Union, this place was called "Freedom Square". However, the name did not take root, and for more than two decades it again bears its original name.
Cathedral square attractions
As a rule, all tours of the Cathedral square 
begin from its Central 22-meter pedestal, built in honor of the 850 anniversary of the city, in 1958. The architecture of the pedestal reflects the Soviet architecture-in its concave faces there are sculptures of a warrior, an architect and a worker. According to the creators, the sculpture represents the past and present of Vladimir.
Among other monuments of the square can be called recent-a monument in honor of the iconographer Andrei Rublev and the monument to Prince Vladimir the Red Sun.
Stands on the square and the monument to Lenin, at the time took the place of the monument to Alexander II. Initially, Lenin stretched his hand to the Assumption Cathedral, but it was perceived very ambiguously, which led to the fact that the monument was corrected and the sculpture of the leader of the Soviet people is now standing, lowered his hand.
In the left hand from the monument to Rublev is the great Assumption Cathedral – an example of ancient Russian architecture, the pride of our country, which is a world cultural heritage.
Moving on, you can see the Park named after Vladimir Pushkin, where the pedestal to the baptisers of Vladimir lands is installed – to St. Fedor and Prince Vladimir the Saint.
Along the perimeter of the cathedrals is also a number of ancient buildings. For example, the building of Public places, where you can see the exhibition devoted to the history of the city, its estates. Here you can see art galleries, the Museum of the noble estate, numerous excursions.
Not far from the building of Public places is the Cathedral of St. Dmitry Solunsky, which is now a Museum dedicated to the ancient and amazing history of the temple.
