Architectural-ethnographic Museum "Taltsy"

The first group of tourists visited the architectural-ethnographic Museum "Taltsy" in 1980. Every year more than 140,000 people come here to touch the culture of their ancestors.

Architecture of a bygone era

The territory of the Museum occupies about 67 hectares. The enclave of culture of our ancestors includes many architectural structures and buildings. TaltsyAmong the specimens of the architecture, there are very picturesque buildings, such as the camp of the Evenki, a cascade of water mills, careful of the tower and the village cemetery. The founders of the Museum recreated the volost village of Irkutsk region. Guests have the opportunity to visit the most important house of such villages of that time during a walk on the estate of the city Cossack.

In the middle of the recreated village there is a hut of the volost government. The Museum staff recreated not only the architecture, but also the internal arrangement of the building. The tallest building of the Park is the Spasskaya road tower, located next to the reconstructed wall of the Ilimsky jail. This place has a lot of buildings that were once in every small town and settlement of the Irkutsk region.

Ethnographic exhibits

The Treasury of the Museum "Taltsy" has preserved more than 20,000 exhibits. Guests of the ethnographic Park have the opportunity to get acquainted with the collection of icons of the most famous saints: Nicholas the Wonderworker, Ethnographic exhibits of Taltsythe Savior, the prophet Elijah and other images that are familiar to the adherents of Orthodoxy. In the graphics room there are drawings and prints made on fabric and paper.

Ethnographic pavilions open doors to the visitors of the Museum to the Russian culture of the past centuries. Ethnic collections consist of tableware, clothing, Handicrafts, tools, agricultural tools and other household items. Visitors to the Museum can get acquainted with the peculiarities of life of our ancestors, Evenks and Buryats. The "Taltsy" also presents exhibits that once belonged to the citizens of different classes – these are household items and accessories.

Fans of numismatics and bonistics will not be able to take their eyes off the collection of coins and banknotes for a long time. The minting of the oldest coins dates back to 1550
